Language is a significant cultural tier, FOCUSED PRESS reading books are intended to strengthen the connection between English-speaking Jews and the spoken Hebrew language.
Native Hebrew speakers wrote the books and experienced Hebrew teachers for English speaking students edited the books.
The books at the initial levels contain simple words and sentences that make the learning process enjoyable and non-threatening to the novice learner.
We did our best to create a learning tool for readers to experience success desired for further Hebrew learning and reading. We intend for these books to fill a gap between knowing the Hebrew alphabet and their sounds to a rich library of basic Hebrew books available through major retail outlets.
Our readers who read several of our series of books will have a sense of satisfaction by understanding what they read that will propel the reader to continue learning and understanding the Hebrew Language.
In our minds, we see parents, children, and grandparents reading the physical and virtual books together, having fun, laughing, and learning.
Our Method
We built our book packages step by step to provide expanding vocabulary and reading skills.
Many pedagogical studies in the field of language learning support our methodology. Each book utilizes a built-in repetitive element to provide the reader required learning. Each page builds upon previously read vocabulary with a new simple and defined word to further enrich
vocabulary. The books build upon themselves. Each higher level contains elements and vocabulary from lower level books. In this way, the reader develops confidence and a sense of satisfaction. This satisfaction supports ease of reading and reinforcement of vocabulary while
expanding the vocabulary. We produced our books with vowels or “nekud”. The online books provide additional support and guidance with the recorded voice of a native Hebrew speaker, with each word illuminated and marked while hearing the word so that the reader can follow the words and hear them pronounced optimally.
This READ ALONG function can provide the reader feedback on their reading and support if they have difficulty pronouncing a word.
Our illustrations provide the reader with an extra layer of understanding about the story and help them understand and even better remember the vocabulary using visual memory.
At the end of each book, a dictionary defines the new words for that book. The dictionary contains the English translation and a Hebrew transliteration in English letters to help pronounce the words correctly.
The extensive pedagogical tools in our method enable Hebrew learning either in a group or individually. You will enjoy these books by yourself and reading them aloud with others. We highly recommend reading these books aloud with others.
